The other day I attempted to make gluten free torillas (which failed) but instead I ended up making gluten free tortilla chips! (Don’t you love it when that happens?!)
I’ve attempted to make corn free, gluten free tortilla chips before but they always end up soggy when I dip them. And I’m not a big fan of plain chips, I like to dip them!
I’m excited to have figured out this recipe so I can enjoy chips again. And in the meantime I’ll have to keep working on that gluten free flour tortillas recipe!
Gluten Free Tortilla Chips
What You Need:
- 1 c. gluten free all purpose flour
- 1 T. oil (I used mild olive oil)
- 1/2 c. milk (use a milk substitute if you are dairy free)
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 t. baking powder (I use Hain Baking Powder because it’s corn free)
Mix together all ingredients. You may need to add a little more flour or a little more milk depending on how how wet/dry your dough is. You want it just slightly sticky.
Roll into 2 inch wide balls.
Place into a greased or non-stick tortilla press. You might be able to just roll these out and cook them in a non-stick frying pan if you make them a little drier. I have a tortilla press that cooks them at the same time.
Cook in the press, or non-stick pan until brown and crispy.
Break into pieces and enjoy!
